At least, Dbanj's expensive wrist watch which he said can buy a bently can tell the time but this wrist watch which cost $300,000 (N45,000,000) cant. All it can do is tell you whether it is day or night.

Swiss watchmaker Romain Jerome’s watch, ‘Day & Night’, made from oxidized steel salvaged from the Titanic (yes, the boat), doesn’t tell the time. Oh, it has two complex tourbillons (devices that conteract gravity and other perturbing force that affects the accuracy of the watch) all right, but the watch can only tell whether it’s day or night.

Yvan Arpa, company chief executive, quoted statistical studies to decipher how the watch better speaks of the ‘time-philosophy’ of today’s wealth. 

‘When you ask people what is the ultimate luxury, 80 percent answer ‘time’. Then when you look at other studies, 67 percent don’t look at their watch to tell what time it is,’ he told Reuters.

Yvan was also of the view that anyone is capable of purchasing a watch that tells time (that’s what they do, wrong?). But ‘only a truly discerning customer can buy one that doesn’t.’ The best part about this utterly useless device? The watch sold out within 48 hours of its launch.

Retiring Police Dogs In Nottinghamshire To be Given Penison

Lol...This is quiet hilarious. Retiring police dogs in Nottinghamshire are to be given a £500-a-year pension.

The county's police and crime commissioner announced plans for the three-year pension plan, saying the dogs had "worked hard all their lives" and deserved to be recognised. Paddy Tipping said the money would be given on request to the dogs' handlers to help them foot the cost of any vet bills.

"We give pensions to police officers and we look after (them) when they retire," he said. The dogs have worked hard all their lives and we should make some provision for them as well."

Around six police dogs retire in Nottinghamshire every year. Most go to live with the handler who has worked with them during their time in the force. Mr Tipping said he was "concerned" these officers have to pay for the dogs' food and medical bills.

"Let's be clear, if the officers didn't look after the dogs when they retire from the force, they would be put down," he said. The police officers become very fond of the dogs. They keep them and I don't think it's fair they have to pay all the bills."

Nottinghamshire has 26 police dogs which are able to sniff out drugs and explosives, search dangerous buildings and detain suspects. New recruits are trained when they are around 12 months old and usually retire when they are between seven-and-a-half and eight-and-a-half years old.

Pastor in Mississippi Bans Fried Chicken From Church Events

Mississippi pastor banned fried chicken at events as part of an anti-obesity campaign. Now, he is spreading the gospel about the Affordable Care Act, commonly known as Obamacare.

“Fried chicken has mysterious powers,” said Oak Hill Missionary Baptist Church pastor Michael Minor, who says you cannot just eat one piece.

Minor banned fried chicken at church dinners along with sugary drinks to help combat obesity.

“People are healthier, more energy. Their weight is down and once you get the weight down, you want to keep it down,” said Minor.

The pastor visited the White House in connection with First Lady Michelle Obama’s anti-obesity campaign. His new mission is now the Affordable Care Act.

“I think it looks like the site has had some problems, and it’s been a struggle to get consistent service,” said Minor.

Minor is working to help the uninsured sign up for the insurance coverage with the new federal marketplaces. His church is one of two in Mississippi that received a federal grant to help people sign up. Minor says the initiative will begin in earnest next month. He says at least 70 people so far have been trained to show people how to maneuver the government website.

19-year Old GIrl Addicted To Eating Soap/Detergents, An Addiction That Could Kill Her

 

 Doctors say a teenager from Florida is eating her way to death. 19-year-old Tempestt Henderson has a strange appetite that sees her eat as much as 5 bars of soap per week. That aside, she also have similar taste for washing powder.

The problem is doctors warn that the high alkaline in the washing products make them poisonous to be consumed. Unless Tempestt get to stop her habit, doctors predict that she could develop metabolism or digestive problems that could kill her.

Tempest says she found washing powders kind of delicious when she first tasted it. She said from that day she has grown from dipping her hand into them to actually consuming them in quantity.

She revealed that,

“I remember the first time I dipped my fingers into the washing powder. I dabbed the powder onto my tongue and it tasted so sweet, and salty…it just felt so right. I was hooked straight away.”

According to psychologists Tempestt is suffering from a very rare form of eating disorder called PICA. PICA gets people addicted to eating strange and non-nutritive objects including feces. She is currently receiving psychological treatment to be able to stop the condition.

Tempest shared that she took a liking to washing powders the first time she tasted it. She said that since that day, she couldn’t keep her paws off it, with the craving growing by the day, and with it, more, more, more soap!

Couple In UK Arrested For Trying To Steal Everything In Their Hotel Room

A UK couple have been arrested after they tried to steal everything in their hotel room. Laura and Christopher Barnett lodged at Morgans Hotel six months after their marriage for Christopher's birthday, before trying to steal everything in their room, which included Egyptian cotton sheets, pillows, paintings and even the flat screen TV.

They were caught when the couple tried to argue their way out of a pay-per-view movie by saying their room didn’t have a TV. A staff was sent to go and check their room and met it almost empty. They were arrested and they later confessed to the crime. Christopher was sentenced to 16 weeks in Jail, while Laura his wife was given one year community service.

Bizarre!!! 27-year-old Argentine Earns A Living By Painting With His Eyes

Leandro Granato, 27, is making a splash in the world of art by colouring with his eyes. He snorts up to a pint-and-a-half of watercolour through his nose and squirts the paint onto a canvas through the eye duct. Looks gross!

The Argentine artist's works take from 10 minutes to months to create, and sell for up to £1,500. Mr Granato began pushing liquid from his nose through his eye at a young age. He now uses it to create unique works of art.

'Ever since I was a kid I knew I had a special connection between my eye and my nose,’ he said.
‘As I grew up I started realising air and liquids could go out of my eye if I put them through my nose.‘Now I am the inventor of a new painting style in the art world.
‘When I decided I would do this for a living my whole family thought I was going crazy - as well as many other people.
‘But as time went by they began to understand the art I call eye-painting.’ 

Mr Granato spent 2 years training and developing a special formula of paint that does not damage his eyes. Leandro believes he is the only person in the world to paint this way. His motivation to become an artist first came when his grandfather died because of cancer,’ said Mr Granato.‘After this loss, I started painting to overcome this pain.'

Mr Granato cites American artist Jackson Pollock as one of his inspirations. The 20th century painter made his name by using unusual painting techniques, developing his own unique style of drip painting.

Woman Gives Birth While Being Burnt Alive & Baby Was Thrown Back Into The Fire

This story is one that is famously known as The Guernsey Martyrs in which three women from England were burned alive for their Protestant beliefs. The three women were Gillemine Gilbert and Perotine Massey (sisters) along with their mother Catherine Cauches.

Initially, the trio was brought to court to face charges of receiving a stolen goblet. They were not found guilty of the charge but things were to take a turn. It came to light that their religious views didnt go in line with those the church authorities considered to be right. They were thrown back to jail and later found guilty of heresy by an Ecclesiastical court and death was the penalty.

The day of reckoning finally came on 18 July, 1556. They were all burnt on the same fire, and was customary to strangle a person before burning, but their rope broke and they were thrown into the fire alive. Historian and martyrologist John Foxe recorded that one of the women,

Perotine, was ‘great with child’ and that ‘the belly of the woman burst asunder by the vehemence of the flame, the infant, being a fair man-child, fell into the fire’. The man-child in question was rescued but the bailiff ordered that ‘it should be carried back again, and cast into the fire’

Man Who Sets Himself On Fire On National Mall Dies

    

An unidentified man died after he set himself on fire on National Mall in Washington DC. He was standing at the center of the mall when he sprinkled gasoline (fuel) on himself and set himself on fire moments later. The reason for his act was unknown but passerby immediately came to his rescue as they helped put out the flames. He suffered life-threatening injuries and which led to his demise. His injuries, which were so severe that authorities will have to use DNA and dental records to identify him, District of Columbia police

Man Found Cut Into Pieces By On Going Train In Oshodi, Lagos

A man, yet-to-be identified was found crushed to death by a moving train in Oshodi, Lagos. He was virtually killed and cut to pieces by a moving train. It was indeed a VERY gory sight to behold.

22-years Later, Father receives Pardon From Son For Injecting Him With HIV As A Baby

     

When Brryan Jackson was a baby, his father, a hospital technician, injected him with HIV-tainted blood to avoid paying child support to his ex-wife.

Doctors believed that Jackson would die in five months, but he’s still alive today at the age of 22. The St. Louis-area man spoke with KPLR this week, stating that he has forgiven his father for trying to kill him. Continue...

“I find myself praying for my father’s salvation,” said Jackson, who says he owes his positive attitude to his Christian beliefs.

The 1992 murder attempt made national headlines, and Jackson has used that attention to gain support for various nonprofit initiatives. In 2009, Jackson founded Hope Is Vital, an organization that raises AIDS awareness and works to stop discrimination against people who are HIV-positive. He has also served as a speaker for Project Kindle, which provides summer camps and other recreational programs for children with serious illnesses.

His father, Brian Stewart, was sentenced to life in prison for first-degree assault in 1999. Though he is now eligible for parole, it has not yet been granted.

Jackson changed his first name from “Brian” to “Brryan” to separate himself from his father’s identity when he was growing up.
