Amazing Superstitious belief: Do you believe in them?

           



Superstition is an irrational fear of what is unknown or mysterious especially connected with a tribe or religion. Every country has their own superstitious belief but i can tell you categorically that of all the superstitions i've heard, Nigerian superstitions are quiet hilarious (Maybe because i am nigerian) Anyways, I remember when i was still little my mum (most times my grandmum) never joked with these superstitions and she ensured you made ammend asap if you violate any of them. Anyways, I deemed it fit to share some with you. Check them out.

  • It is unlucky for the groom to see the bride in her wedding dress before the ceremony starts.
  • if you open an umbrella in the house, you might not get married
  • If you have sex in the afternoon, you would give birth to an albino
  • If you kill a spider, you would wet the bed
  • if an iguana touches you, you would be barren. Check out more below

  • If you stand while eating, you would not be satisfied
  • If you hear your name when you're alone, dont answer because it means ghosts are calling you
  • if you sweep at night, you are sweeping away good luck
  • Dont use a mirror at night, you would see witches
  • If you see a butterfly, it means you would have an august visitor
  • If you drink water from a coconut you would become dumb as in an olodo
  • If you allow people cross over you, you would be short or your kids would look like them
  • If your food falls to the ground, dont pick it because satan has already eaten it
  • When a person dies at home, all the windows in the house should be opened to allow the soul to depart easily
  • Dont serve boys food still on fire, it would affect their manhood
  • Wishes made on the first star seen of an evening are said to come true
  • Cover your mouth when you sneeze, your soul is said to take leave of your body in this manner. This is also why people say "Bless you" to someone who sneezes. 
  • If you whistle at night, you are calling witches.
  • If a bird poo drops on you, it means goodluck
  • if your eye twitches or your hand itches, it means money is coming your way
  • If you make a wish and blow all of the candles on your birthday cake out in one breath, the wish is said to come true.
  • Falling stars are favourite things to make wishes on.
  • The bride usually throws her bouquet over her shoulder as she departs the reception. The young woman who catches it is said to be the next to marry.
  • If you put your bag on the floor, you would be broke
  • A pregnant woman shouldnt eat too much plantain if not her child would be endowed like a plantain.
